A newcomer to Urmston’s ever-growing food and drink scene, Spice Mafia has been serving up delicious, authentic Indian cuisine in Trafford for the past year.

Committed to showcasing the vast amalgamation of flavours and traditions from all over the Asian subcontinent, the Spice Mafia menu is shaped by the tantalising street food that India is renowned for. The team are clearly doing something right, too, after they were crowned Best Newcomers at the 2022 Asian Restaurant Awards earlier this year.

Guests can choose from traditional small plates like Onion Bhajia, Samosa Chaat and Paneer Tikka, or more modern creations like the Mafia Chicken — the restaurant’s own take on South Indian chicken.

An array of veggie-friendly curries feature across the mains section, the Amritsari Channa Masala features chickpeas cooked in homemade garam masala, while the indulgent Mafia Butter Paneer Masala comes with paneer in dadi wala style butter masala sauce.

Things are taken up another notch on the Chef’s Specials section. A staff favourite, Handi Chicken on the Bone sees chicken prepared in a clay pot with fenugreek and a special concoction of spices, and the Jammu Da Khatta Meat, inspired by the streets of Jammu, lamb is cooked in a rich onion and tomato gravy, before adding dried pomegranate for a unique sweet and sour taste.

For anyone wanting stress-free festive celebrations, the restaurant will be open on Christmas Day and for Christmas parties. Take a look through the special Christmas menus here.
