Choreographer to the leading lights of fashion and music, Holly Blakey, brings pop culture alive when her debut show comes to The Lowry this October. Blakey has choreographed music videos for Coldplay, Jungle and Young Fathers, and scooped a UK Music Video award for her work with Florence (And The Machine) Welch as well as securing a Kevin Spacey Foundation award. She’s also worked on fashion campaigns for Dior, Gucci and Paul Smith. So expect more than a dash of style in this new work. Some Greater Class explores the super-sexual language of the pop promo, landing contemporary dancers in a modern-day Garden of Eden. Themes of social connectivity and explorations of class and gender abound. The movement is matched by a score by electronic music duo Darkstar (Hyperdub and Warp Records) and Gwilym Gold (Tender Metal, A Paradise), whose innovative works include an ever-morphing music app Bronze. Expect something special.
