As that time of year rolls around again, where all the ghosts and ghouls come out, what better way to spend it than with FilmFear? HOME’s curators are joining forces with Film4 to present a 10-film fright fest of horror previews, shorts, special guests and monster classics over the long Halloween weekend. Whether that be such exclusive previews like Alice Lowe’s writing-directing debut Prevenge (27 Oct), Julia Ducournau’s first feature debut of cannibalism tonality, Raw (28 Oct), or the dark and eerie We are the Flesh (28 Oct), FilmFear is not short of highlights from the cinematic calendar. However, if you prefer something more classical then screenings of Michael Mann’s stylish horror The Keep (29 Oct) and a live score accompaniment of Nosferatu (30 Oct, pictured), presented by HarmonieBand, should fill anyone’s hungry for classic film. Finishing the weekend of horrors is The Void (30 Oct), which is hot out of the BFI London Festival, and is preceded here by the short Moments of Fear. Additionally, closing out the mini season is the iconic 1931 Spanish version of Dracula (31 Oct). This closing screening will be introduced by HOME’s senior visiting curator, Andy Willis. Whether it is fresh meat you’re crave or a more canonical approach to horror cinema, FilmFear is certainly serving up a treat this autumn.
