Chicago hip-hop brass band Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are back on the road with a new album to join standards like Kryptonite, Balicki Bone and War. Worth checking out from visual perspective alone, this unique band is comprised of eight horn-playing brothers and a drummer. Collectively, they’re the youngest of jazz trumpeter and composer Kelan Phil Cohran (Sun Ra’s Arkestra)’s 23 children. Released in the UK on Honest Jon’s Records – Damon Albarn’s forward thinking music label, that’s also home to the likes of Actress and Shangaan Electro –  the vibe is New Orleans big-band jazz fused with Cohran’s singular style. Collaborations Mos Def, Prince, Ghostface Killah, Childish Gambino, Gorillaz and Erykah Badu.
