Renowned musical innovator Louie Vega comes to Manchester’s Albert Hall this weekend.

The Grammy-Award-winning American DJ and record producer will be bringing his acclaimed Elements of Life project to the city on Sat 8 Feb.

The LP, which came out over 20 years ago, features an all-star selection of musicians combining to bring Vega’s vision to life. Since its release, Vega has taken his music to a long list of esteemed events and institutions like the Montreux Jazz Festival, Womad Festival, Jazz Cafe, New Morning in Paris and more.

The latest live show will see Vega conducting the EOL band on stage, promising to take the audience on a journey through the extensive catalogue of productions such as Louie Vega Starring…XXVIII, NYC Disco, as well as the Elements Of Life albums of which there are now 3.

The LP’s release marked a significant moment in music, becoming the first ‘new artist’ album Fania Records released in years.

Speaking about its impact and legacy, Vega says: “It really comes full circle now, being able to be on the label my uncle Héctor Lavoe was on and the Fania All Stars who are all great inspirations for me. Fania Records is to Latin music what Motown is to R&B and Soul, so to even be a small page in this encyclopaedia of music is a dream come true.”
