The Oast House will be transformed into a corner of Italy when a pop-up apertivo bar takes up residency this weekend. To mark the launch of Peroni Ambra, a new aperitivo drink with a citrus kick from Peroni Nastro Azzurro, the Spinningfields pub will play host to a special pop-up bar, designed to invoke the atmosphere of the rural Chinotto groves of Liguria in north west Italy. Chinotto (pronounced kee-not-toe) is a citrus fruit, native to the Liguria region, which has been used to give Peroni Ambra an extra zing. Unlike other drinks in the Peroni range, Ambra is served poured over ice and garnished with peel. The glassware on offer is special too: enjoy your Peroni Ambra in an individually handmade tumbler by Italian designer Andrea Morgante, meaning your tipple won’t just be tasty, it’ll be unique. Peroni Ambra is inspired by the Italian ritual of ‘aperitivo’, a pre-dinner drink without a direct English translation which is often accompanied by light bites designed to stimulate the appetite. The Apertivo Bar is also an experience for the ears too, with a guest appearance from The Urban Soul Orchestra, comprising an all-female string quartet, and laidback Italian tunes from DJ collective Euphonica (Fri 23 & Sat 24 Jun 6pm-8pm). The immersive Italian experience will be around for four days only.
