Improvement works are set to take place along the Fallowfield Loop, one of Manchester’s most popular cycle routes.

The Yellow Brick Road (YBR), which connects to the Fallowfield Loop, sees thousands of people travel its length every day.

From Mon 21 Oct until the spring of 2025,  a range of improvement works are due to take place. These will include:

  • Surface improvement works of the YBR south of the Alson Road entrance in Gorton, through to the Ahston Canal
  • Improvements to 25 entranceways to the route making them more accessible for people with prams, wheelchairs, cargo bikes and adapted/disability cycles
  • Installation of street lighting across the route
  • Control of vegetation to keep entranceways and paths clear

Councillor Tracey Rawlins, Executive Member for Environment and Transport said: “The Fallowfield Loop is a hugely important and well used part of Manchester. Linking swathes of south Manchester to the wider city, it is part of the day-to-day routine of thousands of people who live and work here.

“It’s therefore very important that we take steps to regularly maintain and improve it, which is why this latest round of works are due to take place.

“By improving access to the site we are ensuring that everyone is able to make better choices around travel and enjoy this green oasis on our doorstep.”
