Self-confessed maker of experimental actions, artist Naomi Kashiwagi joins forces with Super Furry Animal Huw Bunford for a series of free events this weekend across the city’s landmark spaces. Following a performance at Manchester Museum (Sat 13 Oct, 2-3pm), the pair move onto the Whitworth Art Gallery’s grand halls (Sat 13 Oct, 7.30-10.30pm). Catch them doing their thing with multiple gramophones and exploring the sonic potential of materials used for preservation of old 78 records such as seaweed, leather shavings, rubber and gold leaf. It all sounds a bit out there, but with these two joyful characters at the helm, it will be hard not to get into the swing of things, particularly when you add Naomi Kendrick performing her large scale sonic drawings into the mix. There’s a final show case at the gothic John Rylands Library on Deansgate (Sun 14 Oct, 3-4pm).
