Outdoor clothing store Patagonia has teamed up with Kendal Mountain Festival to present Adventure Activists, an inspiring programme of talks and films taking place around the UK. For the Manchester event (ticketed but donation only – click on the link below to book), they have kayaker and environmental activist Dan Yates and ocean advocate, explorer and founder of Paddle Against Plastic, Cal Major talking about their work. Each will give a short presentation focusing on the environmental issues that affect us on a daily basis as well as showing some short films to emphasise the points featuring the good work being done. The idea is to encourage discussion, as well as arming audiences with the knowledge and drive to go out and effect local change as well as inspiring progress a global level. Sounds good, doesn’t it? And better still, all profits go direct to environmental charity, Save Our Rivers.

Wed 27 Sep, Patagonia, 51 King Street, Manchester M2 7AZ. Tel: 0161 834 4005, 7pm, free, <www.eventbrite.co.uk
