To coincide with the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I, the theme for next year’s International Women’s Day has been revealed to be Women as Peacemakers – a celebration of the role women have played in resolving conflict and peace-building. Taking place on Saturday 8 March 2014, the day’s theme lends itself to the countless roles women hold in the community and all who have made an impression in Manchester and beyond. Grants of up to £500 are also available for voluntary and community groups wanting to get involved with activities for next year’s International Women’s Day events (apply here) and celebrate the women who have made a difference in the city.
