Spiritually fulfilling jazz from some of the city’s major players – Jamie Finlay launches his album Sun Dogs at The Deaf Institute.

The gig will incorporate a seven-piece band, many of whom also worked on the album, including rising vocalist Ellen Beth Abdi (who’s part of the modern A Certain Ratio incarnation, and also an artist in her own right of course), producer and multi-instrumentalist Caitlin LM and Secret Night Gang’s Kemani Anderson, who will also be performing a rare solo set as the warm up.

Jamie has a rich history of fusing soul, jazz and broken beat in his early releases seeing support from the likes of Gilles Peterson and Mr Scruff,  and this Wah Wah 45s released debut long player from him touches deeply into grief, joy and beyond.

The live band consists of:

Jamie Finlay – Vocals, Bass Guitar, Percussion
Ellen Beth Abdi – Vocals & Flute
Caitlin LM – Vocals & Saxophones
Kemani Anderson – Vocals & Percussion
Matt Steele – Keyboards
Erroll Rollins – Drums & Percussion
Aaron Wood – Trumpet & Saxophone
