Soup Kitchen play host to one of the foremost figures in contemporary, club-influenced groovy jazz, as versatile drummer Richard Spaven returns to Manchester offering some fresh cuts from new album Real Time. Recorded live over one week in Bath’s Real World Studios, the new record captures “the artfulness of a band of musicians creating something truly unique”, and has already found critical acclaim with singles ‘Faded’ and ‘Spin’. Mixing hip-hop grooves with straight up jazz standards, Spaven has found praise for the fluidity of his sets, playing with some of the finest musicians on the current scene. Support for his show at Soup Kitchen comes from jazz three-piece the Prato, Bell, Luckin Trio.
