Legendary techno DJ and producer Jeff Mills partners with The Hallé for a one-off performance of his show, Light From The Outside World.

Taking over The Bridgewater Hall in his only UK date for the year, Mills, AKA The Wizard, will be joined by the Hallé Orchestra and conductor Chistrophe Mangou for a unique spectacle that collapses the constraints of both the techno and symphonic worlds of nightclub and concert hall.

The show forms part of the Hallé’s new ‘The Hallé Presents’ series, a programme of contemporary music curated and performed by Manchester’s symphony orchestra with very special guests. The series seeks to break boundaries and showcase the traditional orchestra in a different light.

Guests can expect to hear reworked versions of some of Mills’ most famous compositions, such as The Bells, Gamma Player, Amazon, Imagine, Flying Machines, The Art of Barrier Breaking, Eclipse, Medium, The Man Who Wanted Stars and Daylight, all of which have been adjusted to be performed with a full orchestra.

Mills is considered one of the world’s most influential DJs and producers, and is a lauded pioneer of the Roland TR-909 drum machine. Speaking about the show, Mills said: “I am thrilled to be working with the Hallé and bringing Light from the Outside World to Manchester audiences. Combining orchestral and techno soundscapes is a passion and I am thoroughly looking forward to performing my compositions with such a world-renowned orchestra in a vibrant and cosmopolitan city.”
