The Northern Quarter’s new Bench Self Made Gallery is hosting a series of FREE mid-week lunchtime gigs featuring Manchester’s musical talent performing acoustic sets. First up is Jessie Rose (AKA Jessie Rose Trip, likened by the Guardian to Elkie Brooks), followed by Frazer King (Wed 5 Dec). The gallery has just opened with the remit of hosting of events, exhibitions and workshops in collaboration with local talent of all persuasions. Reflecting the Manchester fashion brand’s philosophy, the space is open to musicians, creatives, artists and DJs to use it as a platform. Saturday afternoons, for example, see a series of interactive workshops offering the chance to learn new skills, consult experts and hang out with like-minded dudes. First up is In the Loop (this Sat 1 Dec, with Manchester Wire’s contributor Agent J), offering insights into making beats and writing bars, and ending with an open mic session. Check out the website for how to get involved.
