Running from Tue 23 Jul to Sun 1 Sep, Jodrell Bank’s extraterrestrial school holiday extravaganza promises an inspiring, informative and fun-filled day out for families with cosmic kids of all ages, with interactive exhibitions, live science demonstrations and immersive planetarium shows all summer long.

Screening every weekday at noon and 2.30pm, the latest edition of the wondrous and wildly popular Curious Kids series invites budding astronauts aged 6+ to experience a Solar System Spectacular, a brand new science show featuring hair-raising experiments, brain-teasing trivia and incredible facts, as Jodrell Bank’s team of expert Explainers whisk visitors on a mesmerising journey through our orbital neighbourhood.

Over in the First Light Pavilion Dome, Ted’s Space Adventure offers an engaging, accessible and delightfully charming new show packed with music, rhyme, storytelling and interactive joy ideal for ages 2-7.

Every Tuesday throughout the summer schedule, guests can discover the world-changing science behind humankind’s biggest leaps and find the answers to their biggest quantum queries with a series of talks by experts from Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics and the Square Kilometre Array Observatory. Each speaker will introduce their captivating field of research before tackling your questions about radio astronomy, distant celestial objects and more.

Taking over Jodrell Bank on the first leg of their Summer Science Exhibits on Tour programme, the Royal Society presents a seasonal installation which showcases some of the UK’s most exciting scientific research, available to explore for free on Sat 3, Sun 4, Sat 10 and Sun 11 Aug.

Brand new for 2024, the unmissable Dome Show The Great Solar System Adventure transports spacefaring visitors on an immersive odyssey through the planets around our sun, beginning on the molten flatlands of Mercury and stopping off at every red rock, gas giant and waterworld until finally landing on the icy surface of Pluto, as a breathtaking tour of strange, often hostile alien realms reveals the precious wonder of Earth itself.
