With new album ‘Boy From Michigan’ dropping on Friday 25 June, American singer-songwriter John Grant has announced an additional Manchester date for his upcoming UK/Ireland Tour. Having already sold out the RNCM Theatre this coming October, John will be returning to the city on Saturday 18 June 2022 to headline one of Manchester’s most-loved venues, The Albert Hall.
Formerly frontman of Denver-based alternative rock band The Czars, Grant embarked on his solo career in 2010 and has since released four successful albums: ‘Queen of Denmark’ (2010), ‘Pale Green Ghosts’ (2013), ‘Grey Tickles, Black Pressure’ (2015) and ‘Love Is Magic’ (2018). Having collaborated in the past with numerous names including Sinead O’Connor, Goldfrapp and Manchester’s own Elbow – the last decade has seen Grant establish himself as “one of the great musical chroniclers of the American Dream… angled mostly from its flipside.”
His use of mood, texture and sound – paired with an autographical approach to his work – creates something quite special. His latest release, ‘Boy From Michigan’, promises to showcase this and more – with elements of both piano and electronica. Before its release on Friday 25 June via Bella Union, four tracks have already been shared, including ‘The Only Baby’, ‘Rhetorical Figure’, ‘Billy’ and titular track ‘Boy From Michigan’.
This newly announced date is another chance to experience Grant live and at one of Manchester’s best-loved venues. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 11 June. To book yours, head to the artist’s official website here.
