Following several wildly successful runs across the United States, the rollicking, rhinestone-studded new musical Here You Come Again celebrates the peerless legacy of Dolly Parton with an original story and all her best-loved songs this month at The Lowry.

Devised and presented with Dolly’s blessing, the joyous, singularly delightful new musical comedy follows the story of a diehard fan whose imaginary version of the country icon helps him through life’s challenges, set to all her greatest hits including Jolene, 9 to 5, I Will Always Love You, Islands in the Stream and the timeless titular song, brought together on stage for the first time ever.

Housebound and heartbroken after breaking up with his long-term boyfriend as the COVID-19 pandemic spread, investment banker Kevin sits in his childhood bedroom, surrounded by the treasured artefacts of his youth. When he rediscovers his record player and unearths his precious Dolly vinyls, he recalls the gentle, loving reprieve her songs offered him during the darkest periods of his adolescence, and trusts in her to help him once again.

Bursting with Dolly’s trademark charm, cheek and all-embracing affection, Here You Come Again promises a feel-good theatre experience for the ages with a triumphantly uplifting celebration of love, life and Parton-esque perseverance, originally written by multi-Emmy award-winning comedy and songwriter Bruce Vilanch with Gabriel Barre (who also directs) and writer and actor Tricia Paoluccio (who co-writes and stars as Dolly).
