Two of Manchester’s finest independent labels Akoustik Anarkhy and Melodic Records showcase three of 2012’s most exciting new bands. K-X-P is a smorgasbord of musical ideas. It’s techno, Krafkwerk, bountiful electro. This Finnish outfit have a debut album out on Melodic in early 2013 and are playing a rare UK show. Plank! (pictured) released their debut album, Animalism on aA earlier this year and backed it up with a sold out performance at Soup. They share many of K-X-P’s electronic tendencies but in a typically subversive Mancunion fashion, they combine analogue synths with a punk-edged, Dirty-era Sonic Youth sound. Omega Male (a new project from David Best of Fujiya and Miyagi, also on Full Time Hobby) complete the lineup with their twisted electronic pop that references everyone from The Horrors to Donna Summer.
