Kitchenette, a new restaurant offering ‘high class junk food’, has opened on Oxford Street. Launched on Thursday 27 February at the former location of Felicini opposite the Palace Theatre, Kitchenette offers an expansive menu featuring hirata buns (£6.50 – £10) – a New York version of Taiwanese street food with a Japanese name – plus ‘delights from stove and pan’ including beef brisket chilli (£8.50) and spicy shrimp risotto (£6.50/£9), and a soft shell crab burger (£12). A two- and three-course lunch menu (£13/£17) is also available, plus a sizeable drinks menu. The restaurant, which also boasts a ‘bed sheet projection cinema’, is offering 20% off until further notice for visitors who pick up a Privilege Card. Kitchenette’s proprietors Mud Crab Industries also has outlets on Wilmslow Road in Didsbury, Sheffield and West Bridgford near Nottingham.
