Manchester International Festival ends this week. But dry your eyes mate, because there are still plenty of things you can do for free and some shows even have tickets left. The following shows have good availability:-
The Tale of Mr Tumble (various dates and times, from £12)
FlexN Manchester (Fri 18 & Sat 19 Jul, 8pm, from £12)
10×10: Four Tet Live In Concert (Fri 18 Jul, 7pm-1am, £20)
10×10: Day & Night ft Carl Craig + DJ Koze (Sat 19 Jul, 2pm-2am, £25)
There are also plenty of FREE things left to do that you don’t need to book tickets for. These include checking out Festival Square, which is the ‘hub’ of Manchester International Festival. There are street food vendors here, a bar and two big pavilions (teepee pictured). See our guide to the FREE DJ sessions that are taking place here on a nightly basis. There’s also a good chance of seeing some of the festival’s stars such as Damon Albarn or Maxine Peake strolling about. Ed Atkins has created a new interactive art show called Performance Capture at Manchester Art Gallery (until 5pm on Sun 19 Jul, FREE), while Richter / Pärt sees local choirs singing new music composed by Arvo Pärt in a mutual appreciate show with the artist Gerhard Richter at the Whitworth art gallery (until 5pm on Sun 19 Jul, FREE).
