Theatre company 1927 returns to HOME this month with its latest production, The Animals and Children took to the Streets. The multi-award-winning company previously brought Golem to HOME in 2015 – and this new work employs similar use of large-scale projection to dazzling effect. Delivered largely through song and voiceovers, the narrative tells the tale of the Bayou Mansions – a crumbling tenement block over-run by vermin – and children. With playful acting from its cast of three, music for fans of the Amélie soundtrack and a distinctive Tim Burton-esque aesthetic, it’s a production that’s sure to stick with you.

Wed 6 – Sat 16 Feb, HOME, 2 Tony Wilson Place, Manchester, M15 4FN, Tel: 0161 200 1500, 7.30pm (plus 2pm Sat matinee), £18 – £20 (concessions available), homemcr.org
