Last Shop Standing by Graham Jones explored the slow demise and rebirth of our national treasures AKA record shops. This documentary film is based on the book and contextualises the rapid rise of record shops in 1960s Britain as well as considering their current incarnation as a place to find inspiration, and the impact of changing technologies. Contribs include Paul Weller and Norman Cook as well as Manchester’s Clint Boon and former Pulp man, Richard Hawley. This screening at Band on the Wall (which, incidentally, used to be a cinema) is accompanied by a meal included in the price. Surely one of the best value tickets in town.
