Like a Crystal Maze of malts, hops, yeast and water, IndyManBeerCon has this year passed seven of Victoria Baths’ rooms into the skilled hands of the finest brewers in the UK. They’ll descend on Manchester’s transformed Grade II* listed edifice in just over two month’s time. Offering more chance of victory than the cult TV show, they’ll focus less on time-trialled mini-games and more on supping glorious nectar. Homegrown hopsters Cloudwater will represent Manchester in Room Two, with Beavertown, Fourpure and Redchurch all bringing their beautifully brewed barrels north from London to Room One, the Green Room and the Turkish Baths, respectively. Elsewhere, the other sponsored rooms feature Leeds’ Northern Monk in Room Three, Somerset’s Wild Beer Co in the Food Village and Berkshire’s Siren Craft Brew in the Pineapple Room. There are many more tipples lined up to taste, so whether you’re a long-term real ale connoisseur, craft hipster, hops-based hedonist or beer ticker, IndyManBeerCon is your must-attend annual extended weekend. If you’re lucky you might be able to snaffle a ticket to one of their two sessions that haven’t sold out – Thursday evening and Sunday daytime.
Thu 6-Sun 9 Oct, Victoria Baths, Hathersage Road, Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester, M13 0FE, available sessions Thu 5.30-11.30pm & Sun: 1-7pm, £8.50, www.indymanbeercon.co.uk
