Heart & Parcel are opening their virtual doors to members of the public this Autumn with their new online cook-a-longs. After concerns that COVID-19 would leave their long-term users let down, the Heart & Parcel team made the decision to turn to online lessons, bringing free cooking and English learning classes to viewers via a series of digital cooking evenings.

Supported by Forever Manchester, these cook-a-longs allow members of the public to cook with instructors from the comfort of their own kitchen whilst allowing tutors to develop their English language skills. Sessions are led by English learners who are all training with Heart & Parcel, so each cooking session doesn’t just benefit people wanting to attempt new dishes, they also aid the chefs themselves in developing their language skills by teaching to a live English audience.

Starting on Wednesday 4 November, the line-up has some tasty treats in store for anybody wanting to take part, such as a lesson on how to make Rasha’s stuffed chicken roll with aubergine salad on Monday 16 December. Rasha used to teach in Iraq and wants to extend her cooking skills to anybody looking for a delicious new recipe to try. For a different flavour, food enthusiast Paramita has also offered to share her cooking expertise, sharing the recipe to her unmissable crispy spiced potato pastries with masala tea on Thursday 19 November.

To learn a variety of scrumptious snacks and yummy meals, definitely keep an eye on Heart & Parcel in the upcoming weeks to learn how to cook, or even just to hear a little more about the lives of the chefs themselves.
