Starting this Saturday, Cornerhouse is hosting POUTfest 2014, a season of LGBT films. This month-long celebration will feature classics of gay cinema, along with some new releases. Highlights include the recent hits Stranger by the Lake (20 Aug) and Reaching for the Moon (11 Aug). Of course, no festival of this kind could be complete without the films of John Waters. Featured here are his breakthrough hits Hairspray (16 Aug) and Cry-Baby (pictured, 9 Aug), starring a young Johnny Depp. Also on offer is I Am Divine (26, 29, 31 Jul), a documentary about the drag artist who was the star of many of Waters’ early films. POUTfest 2014 is produced in collaboration with Peccadillo Pictures and the University of Manchester’s Sexuality Summer School. The event coincides with Manchester Pride, with many other LGBT events taking place this summer.
