Contrary to popular belief, not all LGBT events take place around Canal Street. Way over in Salford, in late July, is the Peel Park Pink Picnic. This annual event gets bigger every year, and is expected to attract over 2000 people. A music stage will feature acts such as eighties singer/gay icon Hazell Dean, and Rozalla, of ‘Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)’ fame. Outrageous showgirls the Lady Bears of Leeds will perform their unique cabaret act. There will be a selection of expo stalls, food vendors, and a beer tent fit to satisfy festival junkies of any persuasion. Also returning is  the Pooch Pageant, a competition that aims to find the best-dressed dog, and visitors can deck out their spot in pink for the Campest Picnic Competition. This family-friendly event will also feature go-karts, face painting, and a petting zoo.
