Undeterred by the current climate, Lightopia Festival 2020 will still go ahead this year – becoming the city’s only festive attraction and extending its run date until Sunday 10 January 2021. Bringing a little light to the end of a particularly dark year, Lightopia will debut on Friday 20 November and invite visitors to explore an expansive and colourful world of illumination in the city’s ever-popular Heaton Park.

Giant glowing mushrooms loom in the darkness, huge illuminated sculptures light up the night sky and a spiralling tunnel of light lures wide-eyed families deeper into the festival’s maze of luminosity. What’s more, with its airy location, Lightopia Festival has the added benefit of already being fairly socially distanced – however recent announcements suggest that he team behind the event have gone above and beyond to ensure 2020’s take over is a safe place for family visits.

Advance tickets are available now for £20 for adults (£22 on the day), £13 for children (£15 on the day) and £60 for a family pass of two adults and two children (£68 on the day), while children under three go free. What’s more, a limited number of discounted tickets are available for key workers who can save 20% on their booking. For more information, follow the link below.
