Northern Quarter stalwart Common host the second night in their reading series at the start of December. In a city brimming with confidence in its literature scene since the announcement of Manchester as an UNESCO City of Literature, Murmur is a welcome addition to its Sunday evenings. This edition brings writers from all over the UK and further afield combining poetry and short stories. Sam Riviere has just released her first work of fiction after previous poetry collections published on Faber. Jen Calleja, translator in residence at the British Library will be reading from her debut poetry collection. Northern Writers award winner Amy McCauley brings her new collection, Oedipa to the night. With Nick Ainsworth and Stephanie Warner rounding off a night of stellar talent, and music provided throughout by some of Manchester’s finest DJs, Murmur is the perfect way to avoid the cold before the madness of December descends.
