There’s still time to smash the system at Manchester Punk Festival. Tickets are available on the door for the DIY festival that sees 80 bands descend on the Oxford Road corridor this weekend. Tonight sees a revival of Liverpool hardcore merchants Chief (pictured, Fri 21 May, Zoo, 12.45am). On Saturday, there’ll be attitude from lunchtime until late, including reformed melodic punksters Belvedere (Sat 22 May, Sound Control, 9.50pm) and the self-professed “worst named band in the country”, the anti-folk collective Crywank (Sat 22 May, Underdog, 7.20pm). There’s also punk cinema at Font in this celebration of all things alternative from a trio of promoters: TNSRecords, Anarchistic Undertones and Moving North.
