Performing songs from the expansive Talking Heads repertoire, London Astrobeat Orchestra take to the Band on the Wall stage on Thu 16 Feb for an evening of ‘funky, rhythmic, earth-shatteringly tight’ interpretations of the beloved new wave outfit’s classic records.

Covering a range of inimitable tunes, including those from the cult classic albums Remain in the Light and Speaking in Tongues, the group affectionately nicknamed ‘The African Talking Heads’ offer a ‘completely unique, razor sharp, liquid funk’ take on David Byrne’s timeless compositions, building upon the unmistakeable afrobeat influences which marble through Talking Heads’ music.

Praised by World Headquarters for playing with ‘raw, cosmic human energy’, London Astrobeat Orchestra comprise some of the best West African session musicians working today, including ‘legendary’ bandleader and bassist Edd Bateman, Lingala singer and ‘soukous aristocrat’ King Fire, vocalist and soundscaping guitarist Julian Burdock, Guinean master griot kora player Mosi Conde and Senegalese rhythm machine Badou N’diaye.
