It’s fair to say that we’re all hoping for the kind of summer that Manchester has long since seen – filled with warm days out, mid-priced cocktails and long, lingering evenings in the sun. If that somehow happens – and, despite the cold start, we’re hopeful – Long Bar on the Spinningfields lawn should be the place to be. Having opened over the weekend, it promises to bring cocktails, cold beers and champagne all summer long, as well as a lunchtime deli-themed menu throughout the week, and special guest DJs every weekend – with more special events planned. Though drinks have been served since Saturday, the true opening ceremony for the pop-up bar comes with the free entry Spinfest on Bank Holiday Monday, featuring performances by musicians from all over South America as well as arts and crafts, and a fun bus for the children. Perfect for sipping that first real mojito of the summer and waving goodbye to the last Bank Holiday until August – though hopefully there will be many sunkissed visits to Long Bar before then.
