A new event series celebrating the North West’s finest pop songwriters kicks off at Lowry this week.

POP up! fittingly launches with a MUSICAL THEATRE MEETS POP edition this Fri 20 Mar, bringing a sparkling showcase of original songs, fresh voices and full main character energy to the iconic venue’s Aldridge Studio.

The series has been created by PJ Cunningham (PEEJ Productions) as part of a trilogy supported by the Early Career Promoter Fund (PRS Foundation / Arts Council England / DCMS). It is presented in partnership with Lowry, in collaboration with the new pop musical Dead Famous.

The evening will be hosted by Felix Hagen, a renowned composer and the co-creator of the Olivier and Tony award-winning musical, Operation Mincemeat. In addition to musical theatre, he has travelled the globe as the frontman of glam punk pioneers Felix Hagan & The Family, and written songs, scores and soundtracks for countless projects across film, TV and online.

Six supremely talented artists will perform throughout the night. Audiences can expect big voices, bold lyrics, and plenty of pop-theatre drama, as the worlds of Wicked and SIX collide spectacularly with Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Charli XCX.

Pop Up! Lowry Edit: Musical Theatre Meets Pop comes to Lowry on Fri 20 Mar. Tickets are just £8 and can be booked below.
