Lowry is on a mission to inspire the next generation as the venue’s annual Creative Writing Challenge returns for a fourth year.
Open to any child aged 7-11 from the North West, finalists will have the opportunity to perform their work on Lowry’s iconic Quays Stage.

Entries can be made in a variety of formats. This includes poetry, be that spoken word, limericks and rap. Script and play text for a solo, group or stage and radio performance can also be submitted in this year’s competition, as can short stories.
The challenge showcases the amazing talent that the North West has to offer, with last year’s edition receiving more than 700 submissions.
Speaking about the importance of the competition, Mike Leyland, National Literacy Trust, says: “We are delighted to partner with Lowry on the Creative Writing Challenge.
“We know from our own research that writing helps children to express themselves with 1 in 2 children saying they write to be creative. We hope this exciting competition will inspire children across Salford with their writing and reading, supporting them to develop the literacy skills they need to succeed in life.”
The deadline for entries is Fri 20 Mar. For more information about Lowry’s Creative Writing Challenge, or to submit an entry, click here.
