January is notoriously the toughest month to get through. After all the excitement of Christmas and New Year’s Eve the hangover period of a dark and cold month can be as trying as any calendar period. Of course, good things come to those who wait and at the end of the month we’re being rewarded with two full days of Maker’s Markets at the Lowry Outlet plaza on Salford Quays. This is the first Makers Market in the area of 2017 and follows the Victorian Christmas Extravaganza last month. Highlights include German smoked bratwurst from In the Dog Haus (ideal for those missing the Xmas markets), middle eastern platters from the Ottomen, homemade curry sauces (pictured) and a whole load of tasty treats from The Veggie Pie Co. Grab a cockle warmer from MCR Coffee Co and browse the arts and crafts stalls which include Ditsyglass’ glass masterpieces, bespoke stationary from Ever After Occasions and all the cheese, wine and cakes you could hope for in the heart of winter. Entertainment comes courtesy of Chris Tavener and there’s a story teller on hand for the little ones too.
