Lowry is on a mission to inspire the creativity of the next generation as the annual Creative Writing Challenge returns for a third year.

Open to any child aged 7-11 living in Greater Manchester, finalists will have the opportunity to perform their work on Lowry’s iconic Quays Stage.

Entries can be made in a variety of formats. This includes poetry, be that spoken word, limericks and rap, or script and play text for a solo, group or stage and radio performance. Short stories can also be entered into this year’s competition.

Speaking about the importance of the competition, Mike Leyland, National Literacy Trust, says: “We are delighted to partner with Lowry on the Creative Writing Challenge.

We know from our own research that writing helps children to express themselves with 1 in 2 children saying they write to be creative. We hope this exciting competition will inspire children across Salford with their writing and reading, supporting them to develop the literacy skills they need to succeed in life.”
