A charming stage adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s iconic coming-of-age story comes to Lowry this April.
Little Women was an immediate critical and commercial success upon its two-part release in 1868 and 1869, and has gone on to become one of the best-loved novels of all time.
Based on Alcott’s own experiences of growing up, the story follows the journey of the March sisters — tomboy Jo, beautiful Meg, sensitive Beth and spoilt Amy — as they forge unbreakable bonds of love and family while navigating the challenges of the Civil War era.
Just as timely as ever, Alcott’s story is a celebration of women proving that they can be heroes of their own story, and Anne-Marrie Casey’s masterful adaptation breathes new life into the cherished tale of sisterhood, courage and ambition.
Little Women stars Belinda Lang (2point4 Children, Sister Boniface Mysteries), Honeysuckle Weeks (Foyles War, Calendar Girls the Musical), Jack Ashton (Call the Midwife, The Archers) and Grace Molony (Country Girls, The Great). With Cillian Lenaghan (The Woman in the Wall); Jade Kennedy (Rebus: A Game Called Malice); Catherine Chalk (Hilma) and Imogen Elliott (Grantchester).
Described by The Telegraph as a ‘stylish, humorous and compassionate, this is a lovingly crafted adaptation’, Little Women comes to Lowry from Tue 8 Apr – Sat 12 Apr. Tickets are on sale now, grab yours using the button below.
