Ever since the nominations were announced, it feels like the whole world has gone Oscars crazy. Luckily, Make A Scene – Manchester’s ‘Big Gay Film Club’ – has a very special event planned for the night of the big ceremony in early March by screening the Oscars at Texture in the Northern Quarter, which is likely to be the only live screening of the star-studded event in the city. Host Gary Williams and hostess drag queen Grace Oni Smith (clad in a Bjork-style swan dress) will be providing a drunken commentary through the night, right from the red carpet preamble through to the finale at 4am. Themed cocktails will be available, and coffee martinis to keep you going through the show. There will also be play-a-long winner predictions, games, and trivia quizzes. Visitors are invited to wear black tie/ball gowns. The event will raise money for the George House Trust, a charity which helps people living with HIV.

Sun 4 Mar, Texture, 67 Lever Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester, M1 1FL. 9.30pm – 4am, £7 (early bird)/ £10 (standard), www.skiddle.com
