This Friday marks the beginning of the Manchester Children’s Book Festival, a nine-day celebration taking place at several venues throughout the city. The first big event, taking place on Saturday, is a free family fun day at MMU’s All Saints Campus. Aimed at all kids, from pre-schoolers to teenagers, the day will feature story-telling, arts, crafts, and workshops. The following day, Ordsall Hall is hosting a Family Book Day, and befitting this Tudor building, it will have a time travel theme. At the Portico Library, Carol Ann Duffy will be introducing Liz Kessler, the author of the young adult story ‘Read Me like a Book’. Liz will be discussing how writers can tackle lesbian and gay issues in fiction. Later in the week, Alex Scarrow will be appearing at Central Library to read excerpts from his popular ‘Time Riders’ series. For other events, times and prices, see the link below.
