Manchester City Council’s Active Streets Day is being held on Tuesday 17th August to encourage the community to engage with one another through art, sport and other family-friendly activities! Active Streets will be shutting down Oak Street in Northern Quarter from 11am to 4pm and converting it into a community safe zone for the afternoon, free from cars and full of fun!

The day promises to provide Tennis, Giant Jenga, Hula Hooping, Chess and other sports and games. You can also join the Canal and River Trust on a relaxing walk down the canal, as well as learn from Dr Bike himself how to properly care for your bike. Perhaps you’d like to join in with creating a community art gallery: this will take place outside Manchester’s Craft and Design Centre from 12pm to 3pm, giving you the opportunity to draw on the pavements of Oak Street in chalk until your heart’s content and literally transforming the street itself!

Active Streets Day is an entirely free event, so drop by Northern Quarter to get involved with the community!

Tue 17 Aug, 11am-4pm, Outside Manchester Craft & Design Centre, ,
