Manchester’s clubs in July are arguably at the very top of their game. With Manchester International Festival on the horizon, there’s some interesting and avant-garde additions to this month’s music nights, as well as some staple names, and more big bookings from some of MCR’s up-and-coming promoters.

One of our favourite LGBTQ extravaganza is celebrating its 3rd anniversary this month, and to mark it a classic night at Soup with Chow Down/2 B REAL’s Anz. KMA promise a magical birthday in one of the worlds best basements. Runs 11pm-4am.

Fri 12 Jul | VTSS (MCR debut) / Ehua femme culture | The White Hotel
Berlin based VTSS is making her Manchester debut this month. After making a solid name for herself within the techno world in the US and Europe, she is becoming one of the most exciting underground artists of the moment. If ehr recent Boiler Room set is anything to go by, we’re in a for a treat, Runs 11pm-6am.

Sat 13 Jul | Left, Right & Centre presents DJ Lag + Strange Riddims | Joshua Brooks
Big bookers LR&C are at it again, securing another great name from the underground scene. This time they take a slight detour from their usual bass heavy and techno-driven sounds with “South African superstar, King of GQOM, and all round badman”, DJ Lag [Durban, SA]. Strange Riddims crew and resident Korzi also feature. Runs 11pm-4am.

Sat 13 Jul | The White Hotel Presents: Andrew Weatherall
From start to finish, Adnrew Weatherall (Rotters Golf Club / Bird Scarer) will be playing 11.59pm until 6am for an epic takeover of TWH.

Sun 14 Jul | David Lynch presents: Oliver Coats, Hatis Noit and Chrysta Bell | HOME
Not exactly ‘clubbing’, but if you’re looking for something a little different – other worldly even – look no further than the David Lynch presents music series as part of Manchester International Festival. Sold out shows include Anna Calvi, Douglas Dare and Chyrsta Bell, as well as These New Puritans. Starts at 7.30pm and runs for three hours including an interval. Booking (soon) is recommended.

Sat 20 Jul | Queens of the Electronic Underground | O2 Ritz
If you’re going to treat yourself to a big night this month, let this be it. Manchester International Festival has programmed this one-off, mighty showcase curated by the legendary Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC Radio 6 Music), and featuring Holly Herndon, Aïsha Devi ft. visual artist MFO, Jlin, Klara Lewis, and Katie Gately. Sat 20 Jul | Swing Ting featuring Batu, Fox & Residents | Soup Kitchen
Bristol don Batu, owner of the Timedance label, hits up Manchester alongside Fox for the second part of Swing Ting’s summer sessions for what is set out to be a “special set” according to RA. Tickets will only be available on the door, so head down early and don’t miss out. Runs 11pm-4am.

Fri 26 Jul | Hospital Productions PT-1 | The White Hotel
Project 13 MCR and TWH bring Hospital Productions to the Salford venue this month. With: Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement (Dominick Fernow & Low Jack) going live for a U.K debut, plus Vatican Shadow (live), Low Jack (DJ), Becka Diamond, and Conor Thomas. Runs 11pm-7am.
