Following on from a top show with marmite-artist Yung Lean, Purplesky start a new chapter of rap at Joshua Brooks. Focusing on regional variants of hiphop, expect dirty south and a heavy emphasis on the Bay Area alongside a smattering of instrumentals and bass music, provided by residents such as DJ Croww and Big War.

Fri 10 Oct | Ghosts of Garages ft Sticky & Riko | South
Ghosts of Garage, Hit & Run’s garage division, brings a couple of legends of the scene to South this Friday. Sticky’s signature sound has been a fixture of many a DJ’s set for years and years; from his 2-step work with vocalists such as Kele Le Roc and Tubby T, to UK Funky anthem Jumeirah Riddim. Riko, one of grime’s most robust MCs has been enjoying a bit of a renaissance of late and his teaming up to host local badman Chimpo’s set should be an inspired touch.

Sat 11 Oct | Hotmilk ft Tappa Benz and Riddim Master | The Roadhouse
It’s party time at Hotmilk this month as Manchester’s best city centre reggae dance reaches its 9th birthday, an incredible achievement by any standards. They welcome back an old favourite in Tappa Benz and there’ll be a very special appearance from the mighty Riddim Master. Very, very highly recommended.
