Flim Night | 3 Minute Theatre | Mon 2 Oct | 7.30pm | £3 suggest donation
If you’re unfamiliar with the wonder that is Flim Night then this is as good a night as any to finally ingratiate yourself with the multi-faceted ode to cinema at Three Minute Theatre under Affleck’s. It doesn’t matter too much if you’re familiar with the subject material (this month’s film is John Carpenter’s sci-fi horror masterpiece The Thing) as the various artists of many disciplines interpret the movie for you on the evening. Tonight’s line up includes Edinburgh comedy award nominated Elf Lyons, jazz-stand up Sean Morley and Pop Up Puppet Cinema who will all bring their unique world view to the icy, alien thriller.

Yianni Agisilaou (pic) | The Lowry | Thu 5 Oct | 8pm | £12/10
With a title we’re sure many can empathise with Yianni Agisilaou’s ‘The Simpsons Taught Me Everything I Know’ is a love letter to the greatest television program ever made. Australian storyteller Yianni not only goes into the impact the show has had on his life but how he nearly became the replacement voice for Mr Burns. A noble tale that will em-biggen even the smallest man.

Phil Wang | The Lowry | Sat 7 Oct | 8pm | £12/10
Still only 27 years old, Phil Wang seems to be have been around forever. After several highly rated Edinburgh solo shows and a nomination for best newcomer with his sketch group ‘Daphne’, Wang is inches away from the big time. This performance may be his first tour of the UK but after appearances on Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News For You and as a regular on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown it certainly won’t be his last, though this is a good opportunity to catch a rising star for a much lower price.
