The Quippodrome | Gullivers | Mon 7 Sep | 7.30pm | £4
Definitely the most original night of comedy you’ll grab hold of in Manchester ‘The Quippodrome’ is a mish mash of sketch, character comedy, stand up and powerpoint presentations all held together by one singular and hilariously tenuous thread. Surreal satire that echoes the likes of Chris Morris’ Jam the four members of The Quippodrome showcase inspired writing skills and some off key performances perhaps not fit for television but certainly ready for a wider audience.

Barry Dodds | The Old Monkey | Wed 9 Sep | 7.30pm | £3
Trapdoor Comedy celebrates one year at The Old Monkey by inviting all of their friends to the stage upstairs at the Hyde’s pub on Portland Street. Seeing Hebburn star Dodds for £3 would be enough on its own but throw in the likes of Beat the Frog World Series Winner Jay Hampson, Chortle finalist Liam Pickford as well as a host of Liverpudlian comedians in Adam Rowe, Tony Carroll and Che Burnley this looks set to be one heck of a party.

NQuiz | Frog and Bucket | Sun 13 Sep | 7.30pm | £2
The old pub quiz format has been dead ever since someone made an Encyclopedia Britannica the size of half a slice of toast but still people are willing to head out and test their wits against those around them while assuming anyone that wins to have had a helping hand from their ol’ pal Google. The Frog and Bucket have improved upon the dusty formula by throwing a stand up comedian in as host, this month being the whip smart Kiri Pritchard-McLean (pictured) who’ll be on quiz mistress duties. Huge cash prizes to be won and a damn good laugh. What’s not to love?
