Jayne Edwards and Jack Evans | The Castle Hotel | Tue 12 Dec | 7.30pm | £4
Two of our favourite comedians are getting together for a pair of work in progress shows for the Christmas present you didn’t know you needed. Jayne Edwards will be donning her ‘Whey Protein’ crop top and patriotic cap for an hour of ‘Top Bodybuilder Brian’, one of the finest comic creations to come from this city, whilst Jack Evans puts his surreal psychotropic comedy tangents on hold to speak about his other true love; socialism. Though it’s early days for these new shows there will no doubt some fantastic nuggets to marvel at.

Xmas Lunch | Frog and Bucket | Fri 15 Dec | 12.30pm | £10-26
Office Christmas parties can be the bane of the stand up show with folks using their only pass out of the year to get paraletic and claim they’re funnier than the poor comic on stage. With this in mind The Frog and Bucket have come up with quite the solution, if you start the show at noonish then nobody can be that drunk and a good time will be had by all. The line up sees host Phil Ellis introduce Steve Harris and ‘The Chase’s Paul Sinha whilst a full traditional Christmas dinner is also on offer.

Jim Norton | The Dancehouse | Sat 16 Dec | 8pm | 8pm | £25
If Evans and Edwards are the old friends you haven’t seen for ages that you can’t wait to catch up with at Christmas, and The Frog and Bucket is providing the turkey dinner, then U.S. stand up Jim Norton is almost certainly the drunk uncle here to deliver some home truths and no end of uncomfortable laughs. Recognisable from his appearances on ‘Louie’, ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ and as a priest in MMA based show ‘Power’, Norton picks through his troubled past to deliver some refreshingly unapologetic humour just at the time the world needs it most.
