Long-standing vegetarian restaurant 1847 is opening its doors again in Manchester. After some difficulties with the landlords over the restaurant’s premises, the team have found a new place to call home, apparently a five-minute walk from the previous location. All will be revealed nearer the time, but you can book a table now, with availability from Mon 9 Oct to welcome them back.

New opening: second Kettlebell Kitchen
With its flagship restaurant doing a roaring trade in on Great Ancoats Street, Kettlebell Kitchen is opening a second restaurant in the city, joining the plethora of bars and restaurants at First Street. Serving healthy dishes such as chicken protein waffle burger and gluten-free protein pizzas with toppings including chicken cheatcorn, with spring onions and chilli sauce, the Kettlebox is the signature dish. Northern Quarter bar PLY is launching its new menu this week, with seasonal small plates, pizzas and cocktails aplenty. The venue’s distinctive disco oven will be pumping out Neapolitan sourdough pizzas such as Rustica (a bianca with buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, rocket and sun dried tomatoes), Pear & Blue Cheese (with fior di latte, gorgonzola, pear, maple walnuts and optional smoked pancetta) and Aubergine & Sweet Red Pepper (topped with tomato, fior di latte, aubergine, red pepper, black olive and basil pesto). New small plates include beetroot carpaccio with goats’ cheese, maple and walnuts; fennel and orange salad with watercress, honey and thyme; and lamb chops marinated in anchovy, rosemary and garlic. New cocktails come in the form of First Day of Summer (gin, raspberry, basil and soda), Blueberry Nectar (rum, blueberry, coconut water and soda) and Americano Float (vermouth, coconut gelato and fizz) among many others. Manchester Tequila Festival 2017
One tequila, two tequila, three tequila… never mind the rest. Manchester Tequila Festival is arriving on the Saturday of the upcoming August bank holiday weekend.
