The rapidly expanding Indian street food chain Mowgli has just opened its latest addition on University Green down Oxford Road. Joining Five Guys and Friska, the restaurant has a grand living tree inside the building and is offering 50% off food (t&cs apply) until Sunday 10 February.

National Pizza Day: £20 for 2 pizzas + bottle of wine £20 at Band on the Wall
To celebrate National Pizza Day (Sat 9 Feb), Yes are offering free pizza when you buy a drink between noon and 3pm. (More info: @Yes_mcr ) Band on The Wall, meanwhile are offering a happy hour pizza deal in the bar from 5-7pm.  A big ol’ pizza and a drink will set you back £9 (any pint or soft drink), while two pizzas and a bottle of house wine costs just £20. New fine dining restaurant within a restaurant – Enxaneta at Tast
Tast, the King Street Catalan restaurant from Paco Perez and backed by Pep Guardiola, has unveiled two new fine dining tasting menus for their newly rebranded second floor space, Enxaneta. Served from 6-9pm Wednesday to Saturday, the tasting menus are either 10 course (£95) or 15 (£135). The concept of Mar i Muntanya, translated as sea and mountain, will be central to the menus that will feature dishes with a Catalan heritage and twist and will be cooked in the independent kitchen on the top floor of the restaurant.

New retro gaming bar: NQ64 in the Northern Quarter
Crazy Pedro’s in the Northern Quarter is getting a new neighbour that is sure to exciting the gaming fans out there. NQ64, launching at the end of February, is, as the name hints at, a retro gaming bar featuring arcade machines and game machines from eras past alongside a selection of food and drink. Expect to see numerous late night sessions of Mario Kart.

The American diner is back: Alabama’s reopens near Piccadilly
Following a fire at the restaurant last year, Alabama’s on Newton Street has fixed itself up and reopened and taken the break to reimagine their menu. With a new head chef in Charlie Hadley who has previously overseen the kitchens at Deaf Institute and Gorilla, the brunch spot now has a whole heap of vegan and vegetarian options to choose from. The classic dishes such as the pancakes are still there but they are now joined by options like Vegan Panna Cotta and Vegan Mac.

New bar from team Sandinista: Blind Tyger
A new bar from the folks behind Sandinista is set to open this March on the same street. Blind Tyger already has an outlet in Leeds, above their Sandinista opening there so suggestions it will be a basement bar below the Manchester Sandinista don’t seem to wide of the mark. Set to be an old fashioned drinking den specialising in cocktails, the bar will play a mix of swing, jazz and some dance if it takes tips from its Leeds sibling.

Urmston’s El Camino Mexican Take Over
Urmston seems to be popping up in food and drink news a lot more regularly these days with the food market planned for later this year. Before that, foodies can get their fix as Mexican food purveyors El Camino return to Urmston with a takeover at Get Chucked on Flixton Road for the whole of February. A variety of tacos and small plates will be matched by drinks offer in the evenings including Frozen Margaritas.

Bakeorama (maker of ridiculously amazing cakes) Valentine’s pop up at Oklahoma this Valentine’s Day
