Adding to the swath of new openings in Ancoats, brothers Jonny and Joe Eyre are set to open The Jane Eyre Neighbourhood Bar in Spring 2018. Serving simple continental snacks alongside an extensive cocktail list, and a range of keg and bottled beers from Manchester breweries, the venue is set to add to the growing community.

Northern Quarter Scandi café Takk is hosting a Spanish supper club, with small Catalonian-inspired plates made by Takk chefs. The menu includes tomato bread, padron peppers, and pork loin pintxos as well as a tapas selection that includes a morcilla Scotch egg, chorizo, mussels, and patatas a lo pobre. A hibiscus and white chocolate crème catalana is for dessert, with a meat and cheese board to finish. A selection of craft beer and wine is available on the night.

GRUB food fair (Fri-Sun) to move for one week only
Whilst Manchester International Festival is knocking the city’s collective cultural socks off, GRUB Food Fair is temporarily moving around the corner to allow the festival access to their new digs. It’s relocating to a railway arch on Temperance Street, a minutes’ walk away beyond the Star and Garter. Friday’s line-up includes Fritto Italian Street Food, Wrapture, ParmStar, Wallace and Sons, Holy Crab and dessert from Chou Choux. Saturday’s event is a 100% ExtraVEGANza with food from The Vegan Grindhouse, El Marchador Tacos, Wrapture, ParmStar, Nasi Lemak, with sweet treats from Nicely Kitchen and Drizzle City Bakes. Great beers and bar options available, with DJs playing all day. Sunday is the usual ‘Plant Powered’ line up – so two days of vegan fun this week.
