On the back of its hugely successful flagship restaurant in Cheadle, the people behind Indian Tiffin Room have decided to open another branch at First Street, neighbouring HOME. As a concept, they offer an amalgamation of a variety of dishes unique to different parts of India. As an admirer of their Dosas from happy jaunts to Cheadle, it’s great news that they’ve joining the city centre restaurant scene, expanding that burgeoning area of town.

Didsbury cafe, Mary and Archie, expands into Chorlton
As a Burton Road favourite in Didsbury, a Chorlton branch of Mary and Archie is opening later this month, offering the same independent art, bar and restaurant fare, it will be a welcome addition. To mark their arrival, they’re having a launch party on Fri 19 Feb with free samples of the menu and a limited amount of free drinks. They will be also be hosting guest DJs Living Room Dance Club until late. Having just listened to their planned playlist brought to my attention on Twitter, I’d encourage you to head down to join them.

Northern Restaurant and Bar show at Manchester Central ft. Simon Rogan & Jay Rayner
The North’s largest hospitality show returns to Manchester Central in mid-March to showcase the North’s most innovative and current chefs in action alongside all the latest cooking trends. Among a host of rising stars and regionally, nationally and internationally established chefs, The French’s resident chef Simon Rogan will be taking to the stage to headline at the Chef Live Theatre. Tickets are free at this industry-focused event, with over 50 live food and drink demonstrations. Observer food critic and One Show regular, Jay Rayner, will be appearing too. Northern Quarter’s Federal Café opens late (pic) 
Fed After Hours has recently launched at the tucked-away Aussie and NZ-themed cafe bar in the Northern Quarter. As well as the usual menu of brunches and lunches, Fed offering something slightly different from Mon-Sat, 5-8pm, with veggie and meat sharing boards plus a succinct but well-considered cocktail list.
