New bar: Science and Industry (pictured) opens at Cane and Grain
NQ stalwart Cane and Grain has revamped its secret first floor drinking den. The new hideaway retains the same table service as its former incarnation, but brings a bespoke menu of magical cocktails to the table. Highlights include edible fragrances, developed in consultation with the University of Manchester, sparkling vermouth, created using a Soda Stream, and all manner of jellies, dusts and other molecular tricks. Vegan supper club by S’mores + Ray Ray’s in Levenshulme
The two food forces are joining together for a plant-based supper club one-off event. The location will be revealed two days prior to feasting, but it will be in the Levenshulme area. On arrival, guests will be given a botanical cocktail to quaff, before being treated to a summer feast in intimate surroundings. The four-course menu is staying under wraps, but everything is homemade and vegan. Dietary requirements can be accommodated with warning, as well. It’s bring your own booze and guests are invited to eat, enjoy, celebrate the moment and soak in the evening. Yankeefest: American Beer Festival at Stalybridge Buffet Bar
A hop, skip and a jump – well, nine minutes on a train – from Manchester, Stalybridge Buffet Bar is an award-winning bolt hole away from the city, decorated with vintage rail memorabilia. Seeing as it’s situated on the platform, there’s no need to even leave the station. This weekend, they are running Yankeefest, an American beer festival with over 20 real ales, plus a selection of American bottled beers and bourbons. To accompany the beer flowing, will be a full weekend’s line-up of live music, inspired from the 1920s through to the 1950s. This can be heard on Fri 5-10pm, Sat from 4pm and Sun from 1pm. Boogie woogie on down.

Wanderlust vegan Asian pop-up café at Shudehill’s Wonder Inn
Wanderlust Café is making a guest pop-up appearance at The Wonder Inn. A new eating experience, the travelling café was inspired by the bohemian eateries from Thailand and India. Full vegan fare will be on offer throughout the day, as well as live music acts and therapy activities.

Book now: Bourbon Brothers Bourbon Festival at Manchester Town Hall
Bourbon Brothers is lassoing the UK’s biggest bourbon tasting event and dragging it to Manchester. There will be over 100 bourbons and American whiskeys to sample, as well as other spirits, beers and ciders from the States. Held on Albert Square, there is also an array of street food, music and opportunities to chat to experts about the tipples in question.
