This Friday sees the return of Manchester Guitar Night, a showcase of virtuoso players, which is taking place at that hip NQ hangout Gullivers. Performing will be Rochdale-born Becky Langan, the founder of this event. She was a semi-finalist on the Sky Arts TV show ‘Guitar Star’, during which she recorded at Abbey Road with Bowie-producer Tony Visconti and received mentoring sessions from George Benson, Wilko Johnson, and Preston Reed. Her performance on the show was described as ‘mesmerising’ by non-other than Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi. Also appearing is Luca Fiore, a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Italy. He won the Mayor of London’s GIGS, the UK’s biggest busking competition, and was named London’s Best Busker by the Evening Standard. Jamie Ferguson, a percussive acoustic guitarist based in Salford, rounds out the bill. After releasing an EP back in March, Jamie made two music videos with Fret Monkey Records.
